The Mission Impossible franchise has always been a personal favorite of mine. Even from the early 80’s with the Commodore 128 video game named Impossible Mission. Of course, back then I didn’t know any better being a tiny little lad. I had watched a few episodes (reruns) of the TV Series and thought that the video game was a direct result.
Either way, the IMF team has always been there for me in the form of TV Series, Video Games, and now the movie franchise with starring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt. When the first MI was released, it was an instant success and classic. It had meat that other movies didn’t have at that time. Take an impossible scenario then add some more impossible to it through twists and turns in the plot.
The algorithm for making a Mission Impossible film is still the same, except now it’s fueled by making the impossible possible only to find out that the possible is impossible yet again, but wait, that’s impossible also.
Mission Impossible: Fallout to me was like Inception. Inception had a dream inside of a dream inside of a dream, and it continued like that until you’re so layered up in dreams that you don’t know what’s happening. MI: Fallout is an impossible mission inside of an impossible mission, with impossible odds. It just keeps folding in on itself making it the BEST Mission Impossible to date.
Side note: If you decide to watch all the MI films – you can skip MI:2. While I do love the franchise, this one doesn’t belong.
